Reflecting Back and Dreaming Ahead
Let’s begin with some reflection. Understanding your journey to date, weighing the pros and cons, and having gratitude for and wisdom drawn from what you have experienced can really pave the way for what’s next. Reflection is not judgment--it’s merely taking stock while remaining curious and open. Like with any assessment, it can be easy to get pulled into full-blown analysis. We encourage giving time and space to looking back in order to savor what resonates and assess work still to be done. Don’t get too mired in the details--capture what resonates without dwelling in the past. Check out the following article for some reflection questions to get you started.
Next comes dreaming. We define dreaming as thinking without barriers or limitations about what could be. If there were no time limits, financial constraints, travel challenges, other people’s agendas, (a pandemic…), etc.--what would you want next year to look and feel like for yourself? Dig deep, tapping into things that bring you joy, spur your curiosity and learning, and enable your strengths and gifts. This is the fun part--and, when done intentionally, can really set you up for major growth in the coming year and beyond. We had a blog post in October about visualization and encourage you to revisit it as you set to dreaming about and visualizing your future.
Have fun with reflecting and dreaming--these activities done with intention and without judgment can create joy and alleviate stress. Write things down or record voice memos so that you can reference your thoughts and dreams later. By being honest with your reflections and creative with your dreams, you can really set some things in motion for a fun and prosperous 2021, despite anticipated and unknowl challenges. Dig Deep. Dream Big.
Be Well,
