Women: It’s All About Us

As we open the month of March, it’s time to recognize and honor all women for our accomplishments and for what is yet to come. This month at Core Endeavors, we will be doing just that!

We will explore the accomplishments of several women in history who have paved the way for us, and celebrate their contributions and impacts made to the world at large. We will also honor and uplift all women for all we are, and all we can be.

Everyday, women make an imprint on someone’s life. Whether it is our children, our significant others, co-workers, or the community at large, we are getting it done. The dark side of this, however, can be feelings of overwhelm, burn out and isolation. Recently, we’ve noticed women posting on social media about feeling overwhelmed with expectations of being everything to everyone. Are these self-imposed or actual expectations? Speaking from personal experience, it is likely both.

We cannot honor and celebrate others without first honoring, celebrating, and caring for ourselves. We can do this by embracing community, mentorship and an abundance mentality.

Women uplifting women through community, mentorship and a mindset of abundance

Community not comparison

Oubaitori is a Japanese idiom that comes from the kanji for the four trees that bloom in spring: cherry, plum, apricot and peach. Each flower blooms at its own pace; we all have our own journey and it takes the time it takes. The commonality that brings us together is the bond of womanhood and the desire to uplift ourselves and one another. Comparing our blooming flowers  is not only dangerous to our mental health, it assumes we have the same circumstances, environment and experiences, which couldn’t be further from the truth.

Mentorship not judgment

We all have the capability to mentor through our unique life experience and lessons learned along our paths. Let’s embrace this gift and offer insight, compassion and a safe place for other women to learn and feel understood.

Abundance not scarcity

There are more than enough opportunities in the world for us all. Hoarding information or power is hindering and not helpful to moving us forward. Holding back on recognizing and celebrating the success and potential of other women is perpetuating a competition mentality. There is a time and place for competition (running in a 5K) but when it comes to life, who are we competing against?

Finally, let’s kick our courage and confidence up a notch! There are so many opportunities to grow and shine. We’ve been stifled the past year by the pandemic—now is our time to be our best. Here are a just a couple ways to join other women to learn, grow and support one another:
